AMREF Presents a Lecture by Channel 4's Jon Snow
AMREF is pleased to present "Hacking Through the Jungle in the Digital Age," a lecture by Channel 4’s Jon Snow about how journalism and development work are changing in a world of Twitter, mobile phones, and the world wide web.
Before becoming a journalist, Snow volunteered with VSO as a teacher in a remote part of Uganda. In his day, there were no phones or Internet to connect his village to the outside world. Jon had to cycle 15 miles twice a week to collect the mail.
Today AMREF uses information technology such as mobile phones and the Internet, and social networking programmes to increase the reach and effectiveness of its work in Africa's remotest and most marginalised communities.
Snow will talk about the changes brought on by the digital age in the developing and developed worlds.
When: 25th September at 7 p.m.
Where: Royal Geographical Society (1 Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR)
