Mark Knopfler benefit concert

Mark Knopfler supports AMREF’s life saving work

Mark Knopfler played at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday the 27th May in support of AMREF's work

Having read about AMREF’s life saving work in Africa helping some of the most marginalised communities access good quality and affordable health care, Mark decided to donate the proceeds from his Royal Albert Hall show on Tuesday 27th May to the charity. AMREF is very grateful for Mark's generosity as well as the opportunity of reaching out to his fans and using the occasion to raise awareness of our work. Mark will be playing six nights at The Royal Albert Hall as part of his ‘Kill to Get Crimson’ world tour with each show dedicated to a different charitable cause.

'From the founding of a flying doctor service 50 years ago, AMREF has grown into Africa's strongest and most respected health care organisation. By supporting AMREF you are helping African communities to help themselves.'  Mark Knopfler

On the night, John Muiruri, project manager of AMREF’s Dagoretti Street Children project in Nairobi, Kenya gave a short speech telling the audience more about the vulnerable children who battle for survival on Nairobi’s dangerous streets and about how we can help give them a second chance.

Thank you to everyone who donated!
