Stanslaus Shake Makelele
Stanslaus Shake Makelele was born 2nd June 1966 in Taita Taveta District, a coastal province in Kenya that borders Tsavo National Park. He attended St Joseph’s Primary School and Kenyatta High School in Mwatate and went on to train as a teacher at Kamwenja Teachers college in Nyeri.
After teaching for a number of years, Shake followed his passion for art and attended the Creative Art Centre in Nairobi. His art is bold and beautiful, using vibrant colours to depict African scenes. Shake’s work has achieved critical acclaim and he has exhibited in many countries including the UK, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Denmark, India and the US, as well as in Africa.
